Our Story: Why We Started Mier & Murphy Builders

When you think of home restoration, you imagine safety, comfort, and peace of mind. But for our family, one small leak under the kitchen sink in our Thousand Oaks home changed everything - and set us on the path to founding the remedition branch of Mier & Murphy Builders, serving Thousand Oaks, California, and the surrounding communities.

How It Started

What began as a broken water filter led to an insurance claim, a quick repair, and even a family vacation while the work was supposedly being handled. We trusted the remediation company to take care of everything.

But they didn’t.

The company failed to properly clean and contain the affected areas. Hidden moisture remained behind the walls, feeding dangerous mold growth. Not long after moving back in, my wife became seriously ill. After countless medical tests, we learned the truth: mold spores had been left behind, and our home - and our health - had been compromised because the remediation wasn’t done the right way.

That painful experience was devastating, but it also reshaped our path. We knew no family in Thousand Oaks or beyond should ever have to go through something like this without the right support.
